Explorer First Class Wynetta Wright
The alleged suspect, a Metropolitan Police Officer, is alleged to be the father of EFC Wright’s daughter Jaylin. They were scheduled to appear in court to establish paternity the day after they were reported missing.
The suspect is charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Murder, 1st Degree Child Abuse & Use of Handgun in a Crime of Violence. He is currently being held on a No Bond Status.
EFC Wright’s murder was the first loss Explorers Post 1696 has suffered due to a crime of violence in its 9 years history.
On January 17, 2013 a jury found the killer of Prince George's County Sheriff Explorer Wynetta Wright and her 11 month old daughter Jaylin GUILTY of all (7) charges including 1st degree murder. Justice has been served! Thank you to everyone who has given their support since this tragedy.
Sergeant James Arnaud
Sergeant James Arnaud and DFC Elizabeth Magruder were shot and killed while attempting to serve a psychiatric petition on an individual in a home on Lynmont Drive in Adelphi at 2130 hours.
The suspect retreated to a rear bedroom and opened fire with a handgun. Sergeant Arnaud was shot in the throat and DFC Magruder was shot in the back of the head. The suspect fled the scene following the shootings, but was arrested two days later after undercover officers spotted him coming from an apartment building approximately two miles from the scene of the shooting. The handgun used in the murders was recovered from the suspect as well.
The suspect was found guilty of two counts of second degree murder and using a handgun in commission of a felony in November 2003. In September 2005, the convictions were overturned on appeal and the suspect was ordered to face a new trial. He was again convicted during the second trial and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
